Greenhouse Gas standards and renewable power - 22 Jul 2010
The IEEE Standards Association announced a call for participation for the IEEE P1595 Working Group to help develop new standards for quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emission credits from small hydro and wind power projects and for grid baseline conditions.
The IEEE P1595 standard will use protocols for wind power, small hydro and grid baseline developed by the Government of Canada’s Department of Natural Resources. These protocols were developed in accordance wit the ISO International Standard for GSG Projects, which is used by regulated carbon offset credit markets such as in the Province of Alberta and in the Province of British Columbia.
The IEEE P1595 working group will be working in cooperation with ClimateCheck, a collaborative solutions provider in the GHG and clean technology markets. The IEEE P1595 working group will be utilizing ClimateChecks online standards development platform, which was developed in association with the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute.
