Wind to power Google datacentres - 26 Jul 2010
Google has embarked on a plan to operate datacentres via wind power. It has inked a deal to buy energy from wind-power utility NextEra Energy for the next 20 years which will be used to power a number of datacentres in the USA.
Google Energy will begin buying wind power from July 30 from NextEra's facility in Iowa, the company mentioned that incorporating such a large amount of wind power into their portfolio will be tricky, but the power generated this way will be enough to supply several datacentres.
